In plain English, these are the morals from Episode 92:
Of course, the first point is obvious. Those doofy videotapes Diane and Victor watching while on their trips. The only hint we have that Diane is seeing anything other than hotel walls while they're travelling. I remember when soaps used to actually go on the roads and show you some interesting scenery. It's completely obvious that present-day budgets don't allow it and it's no fun at all to watch people standing at the pool or in a hotel room and merely remarking on the beauty of some far off place. Geez, don't they have any foreign sets they can borrow in Holiday--just to make it look like they went to a museum or a church or something? Ugh...
I followed on Episode 91 with Nikki being not really injured because I am just too bored knowing that Nikki is not on the soap rags' ``departing characters'' lists, so I know she's going to recover. I figure it's better to have it be open to the audience that she's going to recover instead of teasing them in a way they can't really be teased.
Also, the rumor had been that Nikki would be on the verge of losing her baby and Diane would be asked to take it. None of us could make sense of that, and I'm at least glad that didn't happen. I threw it back in here just to be goofy, but it wasn't appropriate for the real show. On the other hand, I do think the business with Diane holding onto Victor's money would have been the perfect twist to create some serious drama if Victor loses his resolve to come back to Diane. It's about time someone offset his powerbase, and it's not often an opportunity comes along where someone has enough bargaining power to do that in a single day and make it believable, but I really believe that had this been done on the show, the balance of power really could have changed. Moreover, I think only with a trade-off like this confronting him could I really have believed the inane thing Victor was allowed by Diane to do; otherwise, I just think Diane was bending too far. If I were Diane (ugh), I'd have said ``Of course, you can divorce me any time you want, Victor. Just don't expect to remarry me.'' For her to have been willing to wait, I think she should have demanded something in return. And I just think his fortune was exactly the right thing to ask for.
Also, we haven't seen Hope in a while and I was kind of missing her--especially given the other departing talent (Victoria Rowell and Heath Kizzier) this week. I thought Hope would be the perfect person to lend some calm to Victor in the state I was leaving him here in the end of this story. I didn't want it to be a complete disaster for him--just a learning experience. And Hope would be a fine teacher.
That's all for Episode 92's morals.
