In plain English, these are the morals from Episode 49:
Overall, the message about this episode is that you can get just about anyone to sleep with anyone else if you just motivate them a little bit better. It seems like we've been watching a lot of unmotivated plot twists lately, and I find them troubling. People just decide to get weird, but it's just as easy to conjure some motive where they saw or heard something which mistakenly gave them reason to get all huffy and do something drastic, and I find such miscommunications or apprehensions to be much more natural ways of driving a character to some new end--and much more like the stuff of which real life problems are made.
I couldn't understand why when Joshua came home and saw Victor with Nikki, nothing came of it. Now, recently, Nikki was with Cole for the birthday thing, and Joshua missed it. It would have been great if Joshua had come home and seen Nikki with someone else and blown up again. I think there was an opportunity missed.
I couldn't resist poking a little more fun at the confusion over sleeping partners stuff, although I tried to make this end up differently (and hopefully more interestingly) than it did on the show. I think it is ok to reuse a plot when you do it with style, and with a clear indication to the audience that you're thinking along with them and you see what they're expecting and you're trying to stay one step ahead.
I really miss Jerri. I thought she was pretty cute, and I was dismayed when we saw her `with child' before because it looks like she's a lost love interest for Cole (unless she's fixed to show up with an alleged child of Cole's one of these days). Victoria is boring, and I want Cole to have a reason to leave her. This episode was intended to show that there are a lot of ways to shake them loose that don't involve him simply "becoming bored".
I'm still withholding the major points about this. But one key point that I hope is obvious is that Victor could find himself having a very different personality online than he manifests in person. Online situations sometimes open up people who are very introverted. And online situations can also bring out different styles of interaction and even different power relationships than happen in the real world. This thread will be continued.
That's all for Episode 49's morals.
Don't miss Episode 50
